Somewhere along the border with Mexico, two lifelong friends - prospectors - use moth eaten maps and passed down legends in a lifelong search to find a ghost ship rumored to have been buried in the desert sand over millennia as the seafloor dried up. Today, Mexican drug lords operate here, using a fleet of children in ultra light airplanes, flying in a new type of treasure - heroin - modern gold dust. These two friends must decide between pursuing their dreams of treasure, suddenly so close, and what they know is right. To save themselves, or risk their lives to save a young girl captive to the drug lord. GOLD DUST is a wild adventure of treasure and ghosts, mirages and orphans, shattered dreams and lost loves. It blends the stark deadly beauty of the desert with a villain so disarmingly dangerous he becomes terrifyingly elegant. Classical music. Thundering opera. Rattlesnakes and precious gems. Mansions and gold mines. Friendship and despair. Treasure beyond. By and Raul Gallego Abellan By and Raul Gallego Abellan October 8 BARCELONA — The shocking images of Spanish riot police using rubber batons to beat voters away from the ballot box were the most powerful impressions of the chaotic vote in the wannabe breakaway republic of Catalonia. But just out of view of the camera lenses was the majority of Spanish citizens in this stylish, peaceful and prosperous region in the heart of Europe — those who did not vote in the disputed referendum for an independent Catalonia. At least 6 in 10 registered voters stayed home, suggesting deep division and opposition to the split with Spain sought by the separatists. A protest march in favor of Spanish unity brought hundreds of thousands onto the streets of Barcelona on Sunday. Who are they? What do they want? Many here are now calling themselves “the silent majority.”. We Don't Belong Here, previously entitled The Greens Are Gone, is an American drama film written and directed by Peer Pedersen. The film stars Catherine Keener, Kaitlyn Dever, Anton Yelchin Riley Keough, Annie Starke, Cary Elwes and Maya Rudolph. The film was released on April 4, 2017, by Sony Pictures. Tens of thousands of people took to the streets of Catalonia's capital Barcelona on Oct. 8 to express their opposition to any declaration of independence from Spain. (Reuters) They range from old-school socialists to old-family capitalists, and they say the Catalan independence referendum was either a bad idea or just done so badly. Catalan business leaders worry that it does not make sense, financially, to break from Spain. After a week of chaos, two Spanish banks — Banco Sabadell and Caixabank — announced plans to move their headquarters out of Catalonia to other cities in Spain. A Spanish freelancer, who has lived in Barcelona for the past seven years, wondered aloud if she and her Scottish boyfriend belong in Catalonia anymore. “We’re open individuals, citizens of the world,” said Maribel Villalba. “We just want to live peacefully. You can’t put half the population against the other half.” Though some defended and even applauded the harsh police tactics, many of the 58 percent who did not vote decried the use of truncheons and rubber bullets — but still say the referendum is invalid. The regional president, Carles Puigdemont, declared — just as the first handful of votes were announced — that Catalonia had earned the “right to independence.” The Catalan authorities say that more than 2 million people voted in the Oct. 1 independence referendum, with 90 percent casting a ballot for independence. But the vote was marred by violence, low turnout and lack of traditional transparency. Just 42 percent voted. Activists, alongside Spanish journalists, pointed out that some people voted multiple times. [] As the showdown between the secessionist leadership in Catalonia and the central government in Madrid hurtles onward, many who abstained from the vote say they have been muzzled or ignored. “I will confess I feel a little afraid,” said Marta Gimenez, a recent law school graduate who works for a major Spanish bank. “I’ve been called a fascist whore” on social media, she said. During an interview with The Washington Post on Thursday, she was wearing a T-shirt that read in English, “Afraid of Nothing!” Gimenez belongs to the youth wing of the People’s Party, the conservative Christian democrats who are the governing power in the central government in Madrid. “Of course I didn’t vote, because the vote was declared illegal by the Constitutional Court,” Gimenez said. She said she wants to remain a part of Europe — and believes in a united Spain. She said that the secessionists keep talking about how Catalonia is oppressed. “Show me oppression,” Gimenez said, sipping a coffee and rolling her eyes. “We are the freest people in Europe.” Semiautonomous Catalonia has a population of around 7 million, and the regional government controls the education system, health care, broadcast media and regional police — with its own parliament, language and culture. Taxes, though, are sent to Madrid, then redistributed. [] On Saturday, thousands dressed all in white took to the streets under a banner in Spanish and Catalan — Hablemos/Parlem — Let’s talk. They eschewed the usual flag waving. 1:30 PM, Saturday, Nov 11, 2017 Other: PVCC Dickinson Center 20171111 1111 15:30 America/New_York VFF: What Lies Upstream This investigative political thriller watches Cullen Hoback unearth the causes of the largest chemical contamination of drinking water in a generation. She's Gotta Have It is an American comedy-drama television series created by Spike Lee. It is based on his 1986 film of the same name. Ten, thirty-minute episodes were ordered by Netflix, all of which were directed by Lee. The show premiered on November 23, 2017. She's Gotta Have It is a clear ode to Brooklyn, its community and the inimitable vibe that pulses through the New York borough. November 27, 2017| Full Review Roxanne Sancto Little White Lies. [She's Gotta Have It] shows a master who continues to be just as inspired and necessary, 31 years later. It opens with footage of (with the word show seamlessly dubbed over the word film), before kicking off into Nola’s world, rendered in lush color rather than black and white. It wastes no time establishing our protagonist: Her therapist deems her “insatiable,” she self-describes as a “sex-positive polyamorous pansexual” who has little interest in monogamy. As in the original, she juggles three different men of varying personalities and backgrounds—“spontaneous” beefcake Greer (Cleo Anthony), buppie Jamie (Lyriq Bent), and immature goofball Mars Blackmon ( Hamilton's Anthony Ramos, taking over the role originated by Lee)—but it’s clear that she’ll struggle to balance her life and desires. Like much of Lee’s oeuvre, the original She’s Gotta Have It has it’s fans, but it also definitely has its detractors, perhaps, who not unfoundedly criticized the film’s misogynistic bent. The director’s track record of representing women on screen is certainly spotty, and it was only a couple of years ago, while promoting the polarizing Chi-raq, that he made some misinformed comments about. Still, Lee has shown to have done some self-reflecting on his debut and, so perhaps this reboot in serialized form will allow him to improve upon the story’s sexual politics for a modern audience. LA CHANA brings us close to the heart and mind of La Chana, the self-taught Gypsy dancer, Antonia Santiago Amador, as she returns to the stage to give a final seated performance after a break of two decades. Peter Sellers, with whom she features in The Bobo (1967), invited her to Hollywood. Instead, at the peak of her career, she suddenly disappeared from the scene. Along the way, La Chana reveals the secret behind her disappearance: for 18 years she was the victim of domestic abuse at the hands of her first husband. In this dramatic story about the process and power of creativity, about aging, perseverance and re-invention, La Chana crystallizes the inevitable clashes between her life’s extremes and contradictions, between the talented artist on stage and the woman behind the scenes. *on 9/29, preceded by two shorts: The Search (Documentary, 24 mins, Melina Tupa, USA/Argentina, 2016) The film explores Estela de Carlotto’s search for her long-lost grandchild thirty-seven years after her daughter was kidnapped and murdered during the Argentinean “Dirty War.” Wheel of Life (Documentary, 15 mins, Marcia Jarmel & Ken Schneider, USA/Cuba, 2015) Meet El Oso (the Bear), one of the founders of Casino— the dance that launched salsa. But the film begins a decade earlier, in 2004, when he learned of the death of his oldest son, Alex, in the war in Iraq. He got inside the Marines’ van with gasoline and a propane torch and the van exploded into flames. The film follows Carlos for the next ten years as he evolves from a grief stricken father to an influential peace activist to the Boston Marathon bombing hero. His story of public involvement and private struggle raises important questions about the impact of war on families, patriotism and the American Dream. This feature length film explores the legacy and cultural resurgence of South American singer-songwriter and activist Victor Jara, who was brutally killed in 1973 following a military coup in Chile. Weaving interviews and archival materials (some rare), supported by an original sound score and a generous helping of Jara songs, the film reveals why Jara’s values and music transcend multiple generations, remaining a powerful cultural symbol in the ongoing global struggle for human rights and social justice. *preceded by: Brazilian Steakhouse (Narrative, 20 mins, Felipe Da Peroni, Brazil, 2015) When someone goes to a Brazilian Steakhouse, that person has a single goal in mind: to eat an absurd amount of meat. In addition to Justified, based on Leonard’s short story “Fire in the Hole,” which ran on FX for six seasons, Timberman-Beverly’s series credits include Elementary, Masters of Sex, and new CBS fall drama Seal Team. From the desk of Steve Shultz: Here is Part 2 of the 'Word of the Lord for 2017,' compiled by the Apostolic Council of Prophetic Elders (ACPE). This Roundtable is convened each year regarding what is about to take place for that year. In this case, the ACPE met in November of 2016 to gather the prophetic words of what the prophets were hearing for the year 2017. This Council is convened by Cindy Jacobs who has a long-standing history of both accuracy in her own revelation, as well as for leadership in the ACPE, and for her many prophetic words on behalf of the kings in the earth. We're giving it to you in two parts so it won't be too long of a read. Please read both parts carefully (rather than a quick scan) as they are very meaty. Read and be encouraged about the things God is about to do on the earth today and going forward. (To Subscribe to the Elijah List ). Cindy Jacobs and the ACPE Note: This is Part 2 of Cindy Jacob's and the ACPE prophetic word for 2017. To read Part 1. Harvest Season Around the Globe The greatest harvest of souls the earth has known is upon us. Hundreds of thousands will be saved. The Middle East will experience a revival and this will extend into the evangelization of both the Arab and the Non-Arabic-speaking Muslims. Look to Egypt to be a leader in this revival and awakening. Washington DC will be 'ground zero' for the exposure of corruption. Some that are exposed will shock the nation as God continues to move to cleanse both political parties. Corrupt judges will also be exposed in the circuit courts. We were told to use Ezekiel 22 as a model to decree against corruption. The 'whistle blowers' will come out in droves! Aides and interns will speak and tell what they have both seen and heard. Collusion between the Federal Drug Administration and the pharmaceutical companies will be exposed in surprising ways. The lobbyists are going to be removed from their places of influence in a significant way, and the influence of corporate giants over Congress will also be reformed. Term limits will be put in place for Congress in the future. Reformation is coming to every aspect of society. Major trade deals are going to be re-written and old enemies will become trading partners. God is aligning the nations for His purposes. The global elites are going to find that they are not able to move freely like they did on the international scene. Corruption and collusion will be exposed and many will be shocked. A new season of mercy has been given, even though for some it does not appear to be so at this moment of time. God wants to reboot the nation and get it back on track. The Lord wants to release both protection for the nation as well as wisdom for compassionate immigration reform while dealing with the criminal influence. This needs serious prayer. The Body of Christ is forerunning racial reconciliation, and this will display a unity and synergy that the world is looking for. (Photo via Pixabay) A call for continued concerted prayer to continue to bring both peace, protection and stability to the nation went out. God wants to give a path to establish what could be called 'thrones of glory' all the way through the year 2020. If the intercessors continue to pray for 2020 vision, God will release His glory on a scale none of us can imagine. The Economy • The US will be the safe refuge for investment around the globe. Family economies will be blessed if they seek the Lord on how to get out of debt and save so they can invest in new financial opportunities that will arise. Significant investments in new innovations and inventions; some even given through dreams, will be released. The Mid-West and what has been known as the rust belt of the United States will begin to blossom.
